Seventh U.S. Service Member Dies in Ongoing Conflict with Iran

A U.S. service member has died from injuries sustained during an Iranian attack in Saudi Arabia, marking the seventh American military casualty since the conflict began. The individual was seriously wounded on March 1 during an Iranian strike on a Saudi military base housing U.S. troops and succumbed to injuries on Saturday night while awaiting transfer to a military hospital in Germany, according to U.S. Central Command.
"Last night, a U.S. service member passed away from injuries received during the Iranian regime's initial attacks across the Middle East," U.S. Central Command announced. "The service member was seriously wounded at the scene of an attack on U.S. troops in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on March 1. This is the seventh service member killed in action during Operation Epic Fury."
The service member's identity is being withheld pending family notification. This death follows the loss of six Army Reservists killed in a March 1 Iranian drone strike on a U.S. operations center at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait. President Donald Trump attended a dignified transfer ceremony for these six soldiers at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Saturday.
Since the conflict's onset on February 28, Iranian retaliatory strikes have resulted in at least 20 deaths across the region, including casualties in Israel and neighboring countries. Iran has reported significant losses from U.S. and Israeli strikes, with the Red Crescent Society estimating nearly 800 fatalities earlier last week, though more recent figures have not been provided. On Friday, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations stated that the death toll had surpassed 1,300.
U.S. military officials have indicated that Iran's preparedness and response have been more robust than anticipated. Despite the deaths of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other top officials in Israeli attacks, Iran continues to launch widespread and less predictable retaliatory strikes. President Trump and other administration officials have cautioned that additional U.S. casualties are expected as the conflict persists.
