Israeli Airstrikes Target Iranian Oil Depots and Beirut Hotel Amid Escalating Middle East Conflict
Israeli airstrikes have hit Iranian oil depots in Tehran and a hotel in Beirut, resulting in multiple casualties and escalating regional tensions.
Israeli airstrikes have intensified across the Middle East, targeting key infrastructure and personnel associated with Iranian forces. In Tehran, strikes on oil refineries sent plumes of smoke into the sky, with residents describing the scene as "it was as if night had turned into day." The flames extended into the nearby Koohsar Boulevard, affecting homes and shops.
In Beirut, Lebanon's health ministry reported that an Israeli strike on a central hotel resulted in four deaths and ten injuries. The hotel was housing individuals displaced by ongoing conflicts in southern Lebanon and Beirut's southern suburbs. Some occupants were seen evacuating the building due to fears of further attacks.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they conducted a "precise strike" targeting "key commanders in the IRGC's Quds Force's Lebanon Corps who operated in Beirut." The Quds Force serves as the overseas operations arm of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The IDF accused the Quds Force of advancing terror attacks against Israel and its civilians, emphasizing their commitment to "continue to precisely eliminate the commanders of the Iranian terror regime wherever they operate."
In Kuwait, the military reported intercepting hostile missile and drone attacks, with air defense systems actively engaging the threats. The Kuwaiti army urged citizens and residents to adhere to safety and security instructions amid the ongoing regional conflict.
The conflict, now entering its second week, has seen significant military actions, including Israeli strikes on Iranian oil depots and Lebanese infrastructure, as well as Iranian retaliatory attacks across the region. Civilian casualties and infrastructure damage continue to mount as the situation escalates.
