NDC's Baba Jamal Leads Ayawaso East By-Election Polls

摘要

A recent Global InfoAnalytics survey projects a significant lead for NDC candidate Baba Jamal in the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election.

A recent survey by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Baba Jamal is leading the Ayawaso East by-election race with 75% of the projected vote. The poll, conducted between February 28 and March 1 with 972 respondents, places New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Baba Ali at 21%, and independent candidate Umar Sanda Muhammed at 3%.

The by-election, scheduled for March 3, was necessitated by the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, in January.

In response to the poll, NDC Deputy National Communications Director Godwin Ako Gunn remarked, "Giving Baba 75% is an experience from what Baba did to him during the primaries. But on the more serious note, we got 70% in the last elections and NPP got 29%. As we are all hoping to appreciate in numbers, anything above 70% will be appreciated. The victory gap will be determined by the work some of us do."

The Ghana Police Service has announced plans to deploy 80 officers to each polling station to ensure a peaceful election process.

With both major parties intensifying their campaigns, Ayawaso East has become a focal point in the nation's political landscape.
