OpenAI Secures $110 Billion Investment from Amazon, SoftBank, and NVIDIA
OpenAI has raised $110 billion from Amazon, SoftBank, and NVIDIA to enhance its AI infrastructure and global reach.
OpenAI has secured $110 billion in funding from Amazon, SoftBank, and NVIDIA to bolster its artificial intelligence infrastructure and expand its global reach. Amazon leads the investment with a $50 billion commitment, starting with an initial $15 billion, followed by an additional $35 billion contingent upon meeting certain conditions. SoftBank and NVIDIA each contribute $30 billion.
The funding elevates OpenAI's pre-money valuation to $730 billion. CEO Sam Altman stated that ChatGPT now has over 900 million weekly active users and more than 50 million consumer subscribers.
As part of the investment, OpenAI and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have expanded their partnership, with AWS becoming the exclusive third-party cloud provider for OpenAI's enterprise platform, Frontier. Additionally, OpenAI plans to develop custom AI models for Amazon's applications.
NVIDIA's investment will enhance OpenAI's computing capacity, providing 3 gigawatts of dedicated inference capacity and 2 gigawatts of training on advanced systems.
OpenAI is also preparing for an initial public offering as early as the second half of this year. Altman mentioned in an interview that he is open to going public at the right time.
