Multiple Injuries Reported in Haifa Following Missile Strikes

Résumé

Missile strikes in Haifa result in multiple injuries; IDF targets Iranian military infrastructure; international calls for cessation of hostilities and return to negotiations.

On June 20, 2025, a series of missile strikes targeted Haifa, Israel, resulting in multiple injuries. Emergency services reported that a 16-year-old and a man in his 40s were seriously wounded and transported to local hospitals. Additionally, another individual sustained moderate injuries, and nine others suffered minor injuries, primarily due to blast-related trauma. Similar incidents were reported in southern and central Israel, including Jerusalem, marking one of the most significant attacks since the onset of hostilities a week prior. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced operations targeting military infrastructure in central and western Iran. The IDF stated that their air force, guided by intelligence from the Military Intelligence Directorate, struck the headquarters of Iran’s internal security apparatus and its special units in the Tehran area. French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the ongoing conflict, urging an immediate cessation of attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of returning to negotiations and called on Iran to demonstrate a willingness to engage in diplomatic discussions. Diplomatic sources from Paris, Berlin, and London indicated that the three countries are formulating a comprehensive proposal aimed at restoring diplomatic channels and preventing further escalation in the region.
