Trump Mobile's T1 Phone Faces Delays and Manufacturing Questions
The T1 smartphone, initially marketed as American-made, has experienced production delays and shifts in manufacturing claims, raising questions about its release and origin.
Trump Mobile's T1 smartphone, initially announced in June 2025 with a planned release in August or September, has yet to reach consumers as of February 2026. The device was originally promoted as "proudly designed and built in the United States," but subsequent developments have cast doubt on these claims.
Shortly after the announcement, the company's website altered its language, removing explicit statements about U.S. manufacturing. The T1's webpage now describes the phone as having "American-Proud Design" and being "brought to life right here in the USA," without specifying the production location.
Analysts have expressed skepticism about the feasibility of producing a competitively priced smartphone entirely within the U.S., given the country's limited infrastructure for such manufacturing.
In addition to manufacturing concerns, the T1 has undergone specification changes. The screen size was reduced from 6.8 inches to 6.25 inches, and references to 12GB of RAM were removed from the product description.
The release date has been postponed multiple times. In December 2025, Trump Mobile customer service representatives attributed the delay to a government shutdown, indicating that the device might be available in mid to late January 2026. However, as of early February 2026, the T1 remains unavailable, with no confirmed shipping date.
Despite these setbacks, Trump Mobile continues to offer wireless services, including "The 47 Plan," which provides unlimited 5G data for $47.45 per month. The company also sells refurbished smartphones ranging from $370 to $630.
The ongoing delays and changes have led to increased scrutiny and skepticism regarding the T1's future and the company's manufacturing claims.
