IDF Strikes Hamas Arms Depot in Gaza City Following Ceasefire Violation
The Israel Defense Forces conducted an airstrike on a Hamas weapons storage facility in Gaza City after an attack on Israeli troops, marking the first such action since the ceasefire began.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Friday that it carried out an airstrike on a Hamas arms depot in Gaza City. This operation was in response to an attack on Israeli troops in the northern Gaza Strip the previous day, which the IDF described as a "blatant violation" of the ceasefire agreement. No Israeli soldiers were injured in the incident.
In addition to the strike in Gaza City, the IDF targeted a Hamas weapon production site in Khan Younis, located in southern Gaza. Both operations were conducted after issuing evacuation warnings to civilians in the targeted areas. The military confirmed that the strikes were executed "following warnings to civilians, and after identification confirmed that no uninvolved civilians were present in the vicinity of the targeted terror infrastructure."
The IDF emphasized its commitment to the ceasefire but stated it would act against any attempts by terror organizations in the Gaza Strip to carry out attacks against Israeli troops and the State of Israel. This marks the first Israeli strike in Gaza with an official prior evacuation warning since September 2025, before the current ceasefire began.
Hamas and Israel have accused each other of violating the ceasefire, even as international mediators press both sides to adhere to the agreement aimed at ending the conflict. The ceasefire, which began in October 2025, has seen multiple violations, with both parties trading blame over the breaches.
