Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of Telegram, has indicated that his more than 100 children will inherit his fortune.
Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of the messaging application Telegram, has stated that his more than 100 children will inherit his multi-billion-dollar fortune. In an interview with French magazine Le Point, Durov mentioned that he recently drafted his will, specifying that his children will receive their inheritance 30 years from now. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Durov's net worth is $13.9 billion. Durov explained his intention for his children to live independently and develop self-reliance, rather than depending on inherited wealth. He disclosed that he has six children conceived naturally with three different partners, and over 100 others conceived through sperm donations. A clinic where he began donating sperm 15 years ago informed him that more than 100 children had been conceived this way in 12 countries. Durov emphasized that all his children will have equal rights. Based on his current net worth and assuming he has 106 children, each would inherit approximately $131 million. He expressed a desire to prevent conflicts among his children after his death. Additionally, Durov shared details about his daily fitness routine, which includes 300 push-ups followed by 300 squats. He stated that he abstains from alcohol, coffee, tea, sugar, and smoking. French authorities have charged Durov, alleging that Telegram has been used for criminal activities, including the dissemination of child sexual abuse material and drug trafficking. Durov has denied these charges, describing them as unfounded. He argued that the misuse of the messaging service by criminals does not implicate the platform's administrators.
