Avon Tyres Revamps Cobra Chrome Range with Whitewall Options
Avon Tyres has redeveloped its Cobra Chrome motorcycle tyre range, reintroducing whitewall options and expanding to 77 sizes.
Avon Tyres has completed a comprehensive redevelopment of its Cobra Chrome motorcycle tyre range, reintroducing the classic whitewall options that have been a hallmark of the brand. This update comes four years after Avon was integrated into Goodyear's motorcycle tyre portfolio alongside Dunlop. The refreshed Cobra Chrome range now offers 77 front and rear sizes, including 14 with distinctive white sidewalls, catering to a variety of cruiser and custom motorcycles. These sizes cover rim fitments from 15 to 23 inches, accommodating modern cruisers and baggers with unique sizing requirements.
Production of Avon's premium motorcycle tyres has been relocated to Goodyear's facility in Montluçon, France. This move involved extensive reengineering to align with Goodyear's global standards for quality and performance. The Montluçon facility, known for manufacturing Dunlop's premium road tyres and racing products, has tailored its manufacturing processes to accommodate the Cobra Chrome range.
The reintroduction of whitewall tyres required specific technical updates. The white rubber compound was reformulated to improve resistance to discoloration, and the sidewall assembly process was further automated. Computer-assisted quality checks were introduced to ensure a consistent premium finish.
Dmitri Talboom, motorcycle product manager at Goodyear, stated, "To bring Avon production in line with Goodyear's standards for quality and performance, the Cobra Chrome range has been extensively reengineered. Montluçon's role in this revival has been crucial."
The updated Cobra Chrome range is available throughout 2026, with most sizes already on sale and the remainder rolling out during the year.
