Nvidia's Shield TV, introduced in 2015, has maintained a dedicated user base through consistent software updates. The most recent, Shield Experience Upgrade 9.2.2, released in November 2025, addressed various quality-of-life issues and enhanced system stability.
Andrew Bell, Nvidia's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, expressed interest in developing a new Shield TV model. He stated, "We've played with new concepts for Shield and we'll continue to play, and if we find something we're super-excited about, we'll probably make a go of it."
The 2019 Shield TV model remains available and continues to receive updates, reflecting Nvidia's commitment to long-term support. Bell emphasized this dedication, recalling a discussion with CEO Jensen Huang: "Jensen and I had a discussion, and it was, 'how long do we want to support this thing?' And Jensen said, 'For as long as we shall live.'"
This ongoing support and the possibility of new hardware suggest Nvidia's continued investment in the Shield TV platform.
