Trump Establishes 'Board of Peace' to Oversee Gaza Reconstruction

President Donald Trump has announced the formation of a seven-member 'Board of Peace' to oversee the reconstruction and transitional administration of Gaza, following a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The board includes U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, special envoy Steve Witkoff, World Bank President Ajay Banga, Marc Rowan, and Robert Gabriel. Trump will serve as chair, with further appointments expected in the coming weeks.
Each board member will manage a specific portfolio critical to Gaza's stabilization and long-term success, such as governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilization, according to a White House statement.
The establishment of the board aligns with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, which endorsed Trump's comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. The plan includes the creation of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), led by Dr. Ali Sha’ath, tasked with restoring public services and rebuilding civil institutions in Gaza.
Additionally, Bulgarian diplomat Nickolay Mladenov has been appointed as the High Representative for Gaza, acting as the link between the Board of Peace and the NCAG. Major General Jasper Jeffers will lead the International Stabilization Force to oversee security operations and support demilitarization efforts in the region.
The United States remains committed to supporting this transitional framework, working closely with Israel, key Arab nations, and the international community to achieve the objectives of the comprehensive plan.
