President Donald Trump has issued warnings to Colombia and Mexico regarding drug trafficking and suggested that Cuba's government is on the verge of collapse.
Speaking aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump criticized Colombian President Gustavo Petro, alleging that Colombia is "run by a sick man who likes making cocaine and selling it to the United States." He implied potential U.S. action, stating, "And he's not going to be doing it very long. Let me tell you."
Trump also addressed Mexico, expressing concerns over drug trafficking and suggesting that the country "has to get their act together because they're [drugs] pouring through Mexico and we're going to have to do something." He described Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum as a "terrific person" and mentioned offering U.S. military assistance to combat cartels.
Regarding Cuba, Trump stated that the island nation appears to be on the brink of collapse due to the loss of Venezuelan oil income. He remarked, "Cuba looks like it's ready to fall. I don't know how they -- if they're going to hold out, but Cuba now has no income."
These comments follow the recent U.S. operation in Venezuela, where President Nicolás Maduro was captured and transferred to the United States. The action has drawn mixed reactions across Latin America, with some leaders supporting the move and others expressing concern over U.S. interventionism.
