Forward OG Anunoby led the scoring with 28 points, including five three-pointers. Point guard Jalen Brunson, named the NBA Cup MVP, contributed 25 points and eight assists. Karl-Anthony Towns added 16 points and 11 rebounds, despite managing a calf injury that limited his playtime. Reserve players Jordan Clarkson and Mitchell Robinson also made significant contributions, with Clarkson scoring 15 points and Robinson securing 15 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive.
The Spurs were ahead for much of the game, holding an 11-point lead in the third quarter. However, the Knicks initiated a 13-1 run late in the third, taking a 100-95 lead and maintaining their advantage through the final quarter. San Antonio struggled in the fourth, making only 5 of 19 shots (26.3%) and being outscored 35-19.
For the Spurs, Dylan Harper led with 21 points off the bench. Victor Wembanyama, returning from a calf injury, scored 18 points in 25 minutes. De'Aaron Fox added 16 points and nine assists, while Stephon Castle recorded 15 points and 12 assists.
The Knicks dominated the boards, outrebounding the Spurs 59-42, with Robinson's 15 rebounds playing a key role. This rebounding edge contributed to New York's 56-44 advantage in points in the paint.
