Apple Faces Potential Departure of Chip Chief Amid Executive Exodus
Apple's senior vice president of hardware technologies, Johny Srouji, is reportedly considering leaving the company, adding to a series of recent high-profile executive departures.
Apple's senior vice president of hardware technologies, Johny Srouji, is reportedly contemplating leaving the company to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Srouji, who has been instrumental in leading Apple's chip design and the transition to Apple silicon, recently informed CEO Tim Cook of his intentions.
This development follows a series of significant executive departures at Apple. Notably, Alan Dye, the longtime head of human interface design, is set to join Meta Platforms as chief design officer on December 31, 2025. Additionally, AI chief John Giannandrea will retire in spring 2026, with Amar Subramanya, a seasoned AI expert from Microsoft and Google, appointed as his successor.
Further changes include the upcoming retirement of General Counsel Kate Adams and Vice President for Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives Lisa Jackson. Jennifer Newstead, currently Meta's chief legal officer, will assume the role of general counsel at Apple in March 2026.
In response to these departures, Apple is reportedly offering substantial compensation packages and expanded responsibilities to key executives to retain talent. Discussions have included the possibility of promoting Srouji to chief technology officer, which would position him as Apple's second-most powerful executive.
These leadership changes occur as Apple faces challenges in artificial intelligence development and increased competition for top talent in the tech industry.
