Analyst Forecasts $2,399 Price for Apple's Upcoming Foldable iPhone
Fubon Research projects Apple's first foldable iPhone to be priced at $2,399, significantly higher than previous estimates.
Apple's anticipated entry into the foldable smartphone market is expected to come with a premium price tag. Fubon Research analyst Arthur Liao forecasts that the company's first foldable iPhone will be priced at $2,399, surpassing earlier projections that ranged between $2,000 and $2,500.
This pricing positions the foldable iPhone significantly higher than Apple's current top-tier model, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199. In comparison, competitors like Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7 are priced at $1,999, often with discounts, and Google's Pixel 10 Pro Fold starts at $1,799.
The elevated price point is attributed to increased material costs, particularly for components such as the display panel, hinge, and lightweight materials. Despite the higher cost, Fubon Research remains optimistic about demand, projecting total sales of 15.4 million units over the product's lifecycle, including 5.4 million units in 2026.
Apple has reportedly been exploring test production of foldable iPhones in Taiwan, aiming for a potential release in 2026. The company is also considering naming the new model 'iPhone Ultra' to reflect its premium status.
