Thai Woman Found Alive in Coffin Before Scheduled Cremation
A 65-year-old Thai woman, presumed dead, was discovered alive in her coffin at a Buddhist temple in Nonthaburi, Thailand, just before her scheduled cremation.
A 65-year-old woman in Thailand, previously believed to be deceased, was found alive in her coffin at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham, a Buddhist temple in Nonthaburi province, near Bangkok. The temple's general and financial affairs manager, Pairat Soodthoop, reported that the woman's brother had transported her from Phitsanulok province for cremation. While discussing the necessary death certificate, temple staff heard faint knocking from the coffin. Upon opening it, they discovered the woman moving slightly and opening her eyes. She was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, with the temple covering her medical expenses. The brother explained that his sister had been bedridden for two years and appeared to stop breathing two days prior. He had initially intended to donate her organs to a Bangkok hospital, but the hospital declined due to the absence of an official death certificate. Similar incidents have occurred in the past, including cases in the United States where individuals were found alive after being declared dead at nursing homes.
