Morgan Geyser Missing After Leaving Wisconsin Group Home
Morgan Geyser, known for the 2014 'Slender Man' stabbing, has cut off her monitoring bracelet and left her group home in Madison, Wisconsin. Authorities are seeking public assistance in locating her.
Morgan Geyser, who was convicted in the 2014 'Slender Man' stabbing case, has gone missing after cutting off her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and leaving a group home in Madison, Wisconsin. The Madison Police Department reported that Geyser, now 23, was last seen around 8 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Kroncke Drive with an adult acquaintance. Authorities were notified of her disappearance on Sunday morning and have released a recent surveillance image of her. They urge anyone who sees Geyser to call 911 immediately.
Geyser was conditionally released earlier this year from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, where she had been held since 2018 after pleading guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide. This plea was part of a deal to avoid prison for the stabbing of classmate Payton Leutner, an act carried out with her friend Anissa Weier when all three were 12 years old. The attack was allegedly performed to appease the fictional online character Slender Man.
Geyser's attorney, Tony Cotton, expressed surprise at her disappearance and encouraged her to turn herself in. Weier, the co-defendant in the case, was previously released in 2021. The attack gained nationwide attention due to its connection to internet folklore and resulted in both perpetrators being committed to psychiatric institutions.
