Marjorie Taylor Greene Advocates for Extending ACA Tax Credits Amid Premium Concerns
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene urges bipartisan action to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits, highlighting potential premium increases for millions of Americans.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has called on Congress to extend Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits set to expire this year, citing concerns over potential health insurance premium increases for millions of Americans.
Greene emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "Now that the [Affordable Care Act] tax credits are expiring, which the Democrats did put in place — and they set the expiration date for this year — I see a financial crisis for Americans."
Approximately 22 million lower- and middle-income Americans rely on these tax credits to reduce their health insurance costs. The expiration of these subsidies could lead to significant premium increases, affecting many constituents, including those in Greene's district.
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries acknowledged Greene's stance, remarking, "She's been very clear that this health care crisis is not made up, it's real, Republicans have no health care plan, and that Democrats are correct in fighting to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits."
Greene also shared her personal experience with rising health insurance costs, noting that after the ACA's implementation, her family's monthly premiums increased from $800 to over $2,400.
She expressed a desire for bipartisan collaboration to address the issue, stating, "I really hope to see Republicans and Democrats both work together to come up with a very good solution with health care for the American people."
The debate over extending the ACA tax credits continues, with potential implications for millions of Americans facing increased health insurance premiums.
