The Toronto Blue Jays hit five home runs to defeat the Seattle Mariners 13-4 in Game 3 of the ALCS, narrowing Seattle's series lead to 2-1.
The Toronto Blue Jays rebounded in the American League Championship Series with a decisive 13-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners in Game 3, narrowing Seattle's series lead to 2-1. The Blue Jays' offense erupted with five home runs, matching a franchise postseason record.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led the charge, reaching base five times and finishing 4-for-4, falling a triple short of the cycle. George Springer and Alejandro Kirk also contributed home runs, while Andrés Giménez's two-run homer in the third inning ignited a five-run rally.
Mariners' starter George Kirby struggled, allowing eight runs on eight hits over four-plus innings. In contrast, Blue Jays' pitcher Shane Bieber overcame a shaky start, surrendering a two-run homer to Julio Rodríguez in the first inning, but settled in to strike out eight over six innings.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider commented on the team's performance:
"We executed a really good game plan and approach against [Kirby], knowing that he's going to come right after you. It's the difference between trying to just put the ball in play and trying to do some damage. That was the adjustment we were shooting for today."
The series continues with Game 4, where Toronto's Max Scherzer is set to face Seattle's Luis Castillo.
