Wichita Police Confirm Woman in Doorbell Camera Footage Found Safe
A woman seen in a Ring doorbell video, initially suspected to be abducted, has been located and is safe, according to Wichita police.
A woman captured in a Ring doorbell video, which led to concerns of a possible abduction, has been found safe, Wichita police reported. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Sunday in a Wichita neighborhood, where footage showed a female being grabbed by a male and forced away from the area. The homeowner provided the video to authorities, prompting an investigation.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 35-year-old woman from the area contacted investigators, identifying herself as the individual in the footage. Police met with her and transported her to City Hall for further investigation. The incident is believed to be a case of domestic violence involving the woman and her boyfriend. She did not sustain any significant injuries.
Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan emphasized the department's primary concern was the woman's safety and welfare. The investigation is ongoing to determine if formal charges will be pursued. Authorities had previously released the video to the public, seeking assistance in identifying the individuals involved. A $2,000 reward was offered for information leading to their identification.
