Russia Launches Extensive Missile and Drone Attacks on Kyiv

Russia launched a significant missile and drone attack on Kyiv, targeting critical infrastructure and causing widespread power outages. The Ukrainian air force reported that the capital was under a "massive attack" involving ballistic missiles and strike drones, urging residents to seek shelter.

Journalists reported hearing several large explosions across the city, with power outages affecting multiple districts. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that the attacks on "critical infrastructure" resulted in at least nine injuries, five of whom required hospitalization. He noted that the left bank of the capital was without electricity, and water supply issues were also reported.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk indicated that Russian forces were "inflicting a massive strike" on the country's energy sites. She assured that energy workers were taking all necessary measures to minimize the negative consequences and would begin restoration work as soon as security conditions allowed.

In the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, a seven-year-old child was killed in the overnight attack. Regional official Ivan Fedorov confirmed the tragic news, stating that the child had died in the hospital after being wounded.

As winter approaches, Russian forces have intensified their focus on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, aiming to disrupt power supplies and weaken civilian morale. This latest assault underscores the ongoing conflict's impact on Ukraine's critical services and civilian population.
