Indian electric two-wheeler sales hit record 2.24 lakh units in October 2026

Résumé

Retail sales of electric two-wheelers in India reached a new high of 2.24 lakh units in October 2026, up 48.5% year-on-year, with TVS Motor Company leading the market.

India's electric two-wheeler market recorded its highest monthly sales in October 2026, with retail volumes exceeding 2.24 lakh units, a 48.5% increase from the same month a year earlier. September 2026 saw 2.07 lakh units sold, indicating an 8% month-on-month rise. Although pure-electric models accounted for 9.7% of total two-wheeler sales, down from 11.6% in September, the share still grew compared with October 2025.

"Tellingly, demand ran ahead of supply this month: with petrol and diesel prices continuing to remain elevated, electric vehicle driving ranges now materially improved and EV prices increasingly at par with comparable petrol and diesel models, buyer pull strengthened to the point where availability — not demand — became the binding constraint," said FADA President Sai Giridhar.

TVS Motor Company led the segment with 60,490 units sold, nearly doubling its October 2025 figure and marking a 94.7% year-on-year growth. Bajaj Auto followed with 49,126 units, up 51.3% from the previous year. Ather Energy posted 31,833 units, a modest 5.2% increase, while Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand sold 29,923 units, up 81.4% year-on-year. Ola Electric fell to fifth place, recording 12,098 units, a 26.4% decline from October 2025. Greaves Electric Mobility, River Mobility, and BGauss Auto also posted double-digit growth, with River Mobility's sales soaring 274% to 6,817 units.
