Resumen

Matthew Wright, executive producer of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, died at 52 from cardiopulmonary arrest with hypertension as the underlying condition, according to a death certificate.

Matthew Wright, who served as executive producer for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, died on Oct. 30 in Los Angeles at age 52. A death certificate obtained by People lists cardiopulmonary arrest as the immediate cause, with hypertension identified as the underlying condition; obstructive sleep apnea and Class II obesity were also noted as contributing factors.

Wright’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to cover expenses related to his transport, funeral and memorial services.

"He was an amazing guy. He was funny. God, he made me laugh. He would surprise me with things that he did all the time. He was smart. He was kind. He was the part of our show that — I mean, everyone loved him. I loved him. And it’s just shocking," Ellen DeGeneres said in an Instagram video.

"We’re gonna miss him. He is and always will be the glue to our entire family at The Ellen Show," she added.

DeGeneres also mentioned Wright’s friendship with former show DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who died in 2022, expressing hope that the two are now together again.

Andy Lassner, a fellow producer on the show, posted a tribute on Instagram, noting he had seen Wright hours before his death.

"We are all in shock. He was a brilliant producer and an even better human being. My heart breaks for his husband, Justin, his family, and all of us who loved him. I was so lucky to work beside Matt for so many years and to call him my friend. We should have had so much more time with him," Lassner wrote.
