The New York Knicks organization said it appreciates Taylor Swift’s long-time support after two players suggested she was a performative courtside guest.

The New York Knicks issued a statement saying it is "incredibly appreciative" of Taylor Swift’s support following remarks by teammates Tyler Kolek and Miles "Deuce" McBride that questioned the authenticity of her fandom. During an NBA 2K League livestream, Kolek was asked which celebrity fan had seemed the most insincere at Knicks games and replied that Swift appeared "very performative" because she "just wants to be seen at the game." He added that she "has a lot going on, so she can’t come all the time," and anticipated criticism from Swift’s fans. McBride concurred, describing other celebrity attendees such as Ben Stiller and Tracy Morgan as "solid" fans.

A Knicks spokesperson responded, stating: "Taylor Swift has been a Knicks fan for many years, has a long history with Madison Square Garden, and we are incredibly appreciative of her support of the organization." The statement highlighted Swift’s long-standing connection to the venue, noting her participation in a 2003 halftime talent contest at age 13 and her presence at recent playoff games, including the NBA Finals and Eastern Conference finals, where she attended with friends and her husband, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
