Drake Maye earns AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October
Quarterback Drake Maye was recognized as the AFC Offensive Player of the Month after leading the Patriots to a 3-1 record and posting league-leading statistics in October.
The New England Patriots announced that quarterback Drake Maye has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. It marks Maye's first Player of the Month award and the franchise's first offensive honor since Tom Brady received the award for November 2017.
Maye guided the Patriots to a 3-1 record in the month, highlighted by a three-game winning streak that began with a 29-26 road victory over division rival Buffalo. He completed 90 of 134 pass attempts for 1,199 yards and led the NFL with 12 touchdowns, posting an NFL-best 119.0 quarterback rating for the period.
"Maye earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance at Buffalo on October 4, completing 22 of 37 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 54 yards on eight attempts," the team statement said.
He continued his production with five total touchdowns in a 45-17 win over the Raiders on October 11, followed by three touchdown passes in a 26-19 victory over the Jets on October 18, and another three-touchdown effort (two passing, one rushing) in a Thursday night game against Chicago on October 22.
