Jimmy Kimmel urges President Trump to resign on late-night show
During a monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host called on President Donald Trump to quit, while the White House responded with a critical statement about the host.
Jimmy Kimmel used his Thursday monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live to tell President Donald Trump to resign, saying the president should "just quit" and suggesting he could spend his wealth on an island. The host also mocked Trump’s claim that Republicans would have won a larger majority if he had been on the ballot, calling the assertion "crap" and accusing the president of dividing the country.
Kimmel criticized members of the administration, describing them as "ass-kissers and cowards" who followed the president despite disagreeing with his actions. He warned that Trump would "throw you under the bus" and continue to harm those around him.
In response, a White House spokesperson, identified as Davis Dingle, issued a statement calling Kimmel "a no-talent loser" who "spews disgusting lies" and "has beclowned himself". Kimmel replied that the remark was "the point of the show" and reiterated his call for the president to step down.
Kimmel also addressed speculation about Vice President JD Vance succeeding the presidency, suggesting that Vance could easily change his stance on Trump.
The exchange occurred amid a midterm election in which Democrats gained control of Congress, a result the host described as a "blue wave".
