Trump Asserts Ukraine Can Reclaim All Territory Amid Shift in Stance

President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Ukraine, with support from the European Union and NATO, can reclaim all territory occupied by Russia. This marks a significant shift from his earlier stance, which suggested that Ukraine might need to cede some areas to achieve peace.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that Ukraine is "in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form," attributing this potential to Russia's economic difficulties. He further described Russia as a "paper tiger" and suggested that Ukraine could "maybe even go further than that."

These comments followed a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Zelenskyy acknowledged the "big shift" in Trump's position and indicated that the U.S. is willing to provide security guarantees to Ukraine after the conflict concludes.

Trump also suggested that NATO nations should intercept Russian aircraft violating their airspace, following recent incursions by Russian fighter jets and drones into alliance territories. He emphasized that the U.S. would continue supplying weapons to NATO for use as deemed appropriate.

This development represents a notable departure from Trump's previous positions, which had included proposals for territorial concessions and a focus on negotiating peace through potential land swaps. The shift has been met with approval from traditional Republican foreign policy hawks, who view it as an opportunity to advance bipartisan sanctions against Russia.
