Apple unveils Live Rewind and Siri Recap in watchOS 27.3 beta

Resumen

Apple's watchOS 27.3 beta adds Live Rewind and Siri Recap, new Audio Intelligence features that transcribe recent speech and generate daily conversation summaries.

Apple released the first beta of watchOS 27.3, introducing two new Audio Intelligence capabilities—Live Rewind and Siri Recap—for the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. Both features run on the S11 chip and are optional, requiring user activation.

Live Rewind captures a 15-second transcript of a recent conversation when the user double-presses the Digital Crown. The snippet is displayed on the watch screen and is not stored unless the user explicitly saves it. An audible chime and a visual indicator signal that the microphone is active.

Siri Recap operates in the background, listening throughout the day and producing a high-level summary that includes a title and key points. Summaries are generated automatically, retained for up to seven days, and can be deleted or saved in the Siri app. Users can schedule Recap based on time, location, or manually toggle it via Control Center.

Apple emphasizes privacy for all Audio Intelligence functions. Recordings are never stored, raw audio is processed in the Secure Enclave on the S11 chip, and no speaker identification is provided. Summaries are created through Private Cloud Compute, while Live Rewind processing remains on-device unless a snippet is sent to Siri.

The new features require an iPhone 16 or later with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, are available in English only, and are restricted to users aged 13 and older, with parental approval needed for child accounts. watchOS 27.3 is slated for release in December alongside iOS 27.3.
