Résumé

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz offered condolences and support to Jack Campbell and his family after the Lions linebacker was hospitalized with a neck injury.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz addressed the condition of former Hawkeye and Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell at a Tuesday press conference. Campbell, who suffered a neck injury during the Lions' game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, remains hospitalized.

"I want to share our support, certainly to the family, and most importantly to Jack," Ferentz said. "I've been in contact with the family, expressed that to them, and they’ve kept us updated, but we’re going to respect their wishes right now. They’ll handle the information that comes out. When they think it’s appropriate, they’ll release that information and go from there."

Ferentz added that Campbell had been a significant contributor at Iowa, noting his accolades, and praised his impact on the Lions, describing him as a leader and a valuable addition to the team.

Campbell played for Iowa from 2019 to 2022, earning first-team All-American honors, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award, and the Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker before being selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft by Detroit.
