Unidentified drones near Copenhagen and Oslo airports led to temporary closures, causing flight delays and diversions.
On Monday evening, Copenhagen Airport suspended all takeoffs and landings after police observed two to three large drones in the vicinity. The airspace was closed around 8:30 p.m. local time, with operations resuming approximately four hours later. During the closure, departing flights were canceled or delayed, and incoming flights were redirected to other airports in Denmark and neighboring Sweden.
In Norway, Oslo Airport closed its airspace early Tuesday morning following a drone sighting. Incoming flights were redirected to nearby airports. The airspace reopened around 3:22 a.m. local time.
Authorities in both countries are investigating the incidents and are collaborating to determine any potential connections between them. As of now, no arrests have been made in relation to the drone activities near the airports.
These disruptions come amid heightened security concerns in Europe following recent airspace violations by Russian drones in Poland and Romania. However, there is currently no indication that the drone activities in Denmark and Norway are connected to those incidents.
