Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel died following a cardiac arrest caused by a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono during a Segunda División match.

Jesus de Miguel, a 30-year-old forward for Tenerife, died after suffering a cardiac arrest following a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono in a Segunda División match on Monday. The incident occurred seven minutes into added time, when de Miguel, who had entered the game as a substitute in the 59th minute, was struck in the chest by the keeper's knee. Owono received a red card and medical staff attended to de Miguel, who was later taken to Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria. The match was abandoned.

"We communicate the tragic death of Jesus de Miguel Alameda. There are no words of comfort. We are with his devastated family, his loved ones, and all the people of Tenerife who mourn this outcome," the club said in a statement.

The club added that the family appreciated the support but requested privacy during this period. De Miguel began his senior career with Leganés B in 2015, later playing for several Spanish clubs before joining Tenerife on a three-year contract in 2025 after a prolific season with Castellón.
