Cardinals rookie Jeremiyah Love sustains new ankle injury in win over Cowboys
Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love suffered a new ankle injury during Sunday’s victory against Dallas, and the team expects further updates later in the week.
Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love incurred a new ankle injury in the team’s Sunday win over the Dallas Cowboys, coach Mike LaFleur said on Monday. LaFleur noted that the injury is unrelated to the ankle problems Love experienced in preseason and early season, describing it as "a new portion of the ankle."
Love left the field in the first half, received treatment from trainers, and later went to the locker room. LaFleur said he had not spoken with Love at the time of the press conference and would provide more details on Wednesday.
The coach also mentioned that wide receiver Kendrick Bourne’s right ankle injury is "not good," and a source indicated Bourne has a fractured tibia that will keep him out for about three months, ending his season. Running back Bam Knight remains in concussion protocol, and LaFleur said further information on left tackle Jayden Williams’ knee injury will be available on Wednesday.
Wide receiver Reggie Virgil, who collided with the base of the goalpost in the fourth quarter, was reported to be "great," with LaFleur adding, "The goalpost took the hit, not Reg. So, he had a smile on his face when he was laying there. That's just Reg."
