摘要

Ontario provincial police are investigating a crash that resulted in the deaths of four young people and injuries to two others in Puslinch, with a focus on the potential role of seatbelts and speed.

Ontario provincial police are investigating a tragic car crash in Puslinch that left four young people dead and two others injured. The incident occurred early Saturday along Watson Road South, where the vehicle left the road, struck a guardrail, and fell into a ravine.

The OPP reported that six individuals from the Greater Toronto Area were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Four were pronounced dead at the scene: two 19-year-old men from Mississauga and Brampton, a 17-year-old girl from Mississauga, and a 15-year-old girl from Milton. A 17-year-old girl from Mississauga remains hospitalized with life-altering injuries, while a 16-year-old from Mississauga sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

At a news conference, OPP Insp. Karen Medeiros described the incident as an "unimaginable loss" and a "heartbreaking reminder of the lives that can be forever changed by a serious collision." Investigators are looking into whether the vehicle had enough seatbelts for all six occupants and are also examining the possibility of speed being a contributing factor. Police are urging anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to come forward.
