Michael Mann, the director of 'Heat,' was hospitalized following an accidental gun discharge at a Los Angeles gun range.

Michael Mann, the acclaimed director of 'Heat,' was hospitalized this weekend after an accidental discharge of a weapon at a gun range in Los Angeles. According to a representative, the incident resulted in a minor, subcutaneous injury to the 83-year-old filmmaker, who has been a target shooter for decades.

The representative stated, "On Saturday, at a gun range, a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered resulting in a superficial injury to film director Michael Mann. He was treated and is being released." The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers responding to reports of shots fired determined the incident was accidental. Mann was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, and the LAPD cleared the scene after completing an injury report.
