Ամփոփում

Cyclone Murasu has formed over the Bay of Bengal, prompting the Odisha government to issue a high alert and initiate evacuations ahead of its expected landfall in Andhra Pradesh on November 3.

A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into cyclonic storm ‘Murasu’ on November 1, 2026, leading to heightened preparedness measures in southern Odisha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the cyclone is anticipated to make landfall on the Andhra Pradesh coast on November 3, with wind speeds projected between 100-110 km/h, gusting up to 120 km/h, particularly between Nellore and Narsapur.

Odisha’s Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari confirmed that a high alert has been issued for the southern region of the state. The government has ordered evacuations from low-lying and hilly areas to ensure public safety. Manorama Mohanty, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, indicated that Odisha will begin experiencing rainfall from November 2, with increased intensity expected on November 3 and 4 due to the cyclone's influence.
