Teachers Suspended Following Assault Incident at Haryana School

摘要

Two teachers have been suspended after a Class 3 boy assaulted a kindergarten girl at a school in Panchkula, leaving her critically injured.

In response to a serious incident at Sanskriti Model School in Panchkula, the District Elementary Education Officer in Haryana has suspended two junior basic training teachers, Simranjit Kaur and Pooja Rani. The suspension is effective immediately, and both teachers will remain at the office of the District Elementary Education Officer during this period.

The assault occurred on October 28, when a Class 3 boy lured the kindergarten girl to an empty classroom under the pretense of helping her meet her father. Reports indicate that he violently attacked her with a stone and a flowerpot, and continued the assault even after she lost consciousness. The girl was subsequently taken to Civil Hospital in Panchkula for initial treatment and later referred to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh due to the severity of her injuries. Her condition has since improved.

The Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (HSCPCR) has taken notice of the incident and requested a detailed report from the District Elementary Education Officer. Additionally, the Haryana Human Rights Commission has suggested implementing a monitoring system for children's behavior in schools. The Panchkula Police have filed a First Information Report against the school management under the Juvenile Justice Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing negligence and raising concerns about child safety and supervision within the school.
