Earlier in the game, both teams exchanged scoring drives, with Minnesota taking a 13-10 lead in the third quarter after a 51-yard field goal by Luke Drzewiecki. Indiana responded with a 46-yard field goal by Radicic to tie the score. Special teams played a pivotal role, as Indiana missed three field-goal attempts and had a blocked kick, while Minnesota blocked a 52-yard attempt and capitalized on a short punt.
Coach Curt Cignetti made a quarterback change at halftime, inserting Grant Wilson for Josh Hoover, and the team rallied on a 14-play drive that set up the tying field goal. The game featured several turnovers and penalties, but Indiana's defense remained strong throughout.
"I think Josh, he's had a good week and I'm looking for him to have a really good game today," Cignetti said on ESPN's College GameDay.
The win improves Indiana's record to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Big Ten, while Minnesota falls to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
