Man Arrested in Sacramento ABC10 Drive-By Shooting

Summary

A 64-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly firing shots into the ABC10 television station in Sacramento; no injuries were reported.

A 64-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting at the ABC10 television station in Sacramento, California. The incident occurred on Friday around 1:30 p.m. local time, when at least three bullets were fired into the station's lobby window. The building was occupied at the time, but no injuries were reported.

The suspect, identified as Anibal Hernandezsantana of Sacramento, was arrested early Saturday at a residence in the 5400 block of Carlson Drive. He faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied building, and negligent discharge of a firearm. Hernandezsantana was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and later released after posting a $200,000 bail.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. The incident followed a protest outside the station related to the suspension of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" by ABC. It is unclear whether there is any connection between the protest and the shooting.

TEGNA, the owner of ABC10, expressed gratitude that no employees were harmed and stated that increased security measures have been implemented at the station. The company is cooperating with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.

Hernandezsantana is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, September 23, at 3 p.m. local time. It is currently unclear whether he has obtained legal counsel.
