Three suspects sought after armed home invasion at Toronto real-estate CEO's mansion

Résumé

Police are searching for three masked men who broke into a Bridle Path mansion early Thursday, injuring the homeowner, David Morton, his wife and two adult daughters with gunfire and a hammer.

Toronto police are searching for three armed suspects who entered a five-bedroom mansion in the Bridle Path neighbourhood at about 3:40 a.m. on Thursday. The men, described as masked and in their 20s, forced entry through a back door, wielding guns and a hammer, according to Toronto Police Service Inspector Krista Smith.

Inside, the intruders confronted 75-year-old David Morton, CEO of the MAC Group, his 64-year-old wife Doriana Morton, and their daughters Maggie and Cristina, ages 28 and 26. The family attempted to resist, and all three victims sustained gunshot wounds, Smith said. Morton later confirmed that he and his daughters remained hospitalized with gunshot injuries and also reported being struck with the hammer.

The suspects fled the scene in an SUV. Smith said a demand for valuables was made, but it was unclear whether anything was taken. Police noted that the Bridle Path area typically has strong security measures, and a former resident expressed surprise at the incident.

Toronto police reported 119 home invasions so far in 2026, a 32.2% increase compared with the same period last year.
