Toronto family recovers after violent home invasion in Bridle Path

Resumen

Four adults were shot and assaulted during a home invasion in Toronto's Bridle Path neighbourhood; three remain hospitalized as police search for three suspects.

A home invasion in Toronto's Bridle Path neighbourhood left four adults injured early Thursday morning. Police responded to a call at a residence on Hyde Park Circle near Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East at about 3:43 a.m., reporting that three suspects entered the home through a rear entrance, armed with handguns and a hammer.

David Morton, chief executive of MAC Group, said three members of his family are recovering in hospital after being shot, and all four were also struck with a hammer. He said the incident has left his family deeply affected and urged the public to cooperate with investigators.

"It is difficult to put into words the trauma of experiencing something so horrific in the one place where everyone should feel safest: their own home," Morton said.

"No family should ever have to experience this. People should be able to sleep peacefully in their homes without fear of armed individuals breaking in and threatening their lives," he added.

Police indicated that two of the victims sustained life-altering injuries. The investigation remains ongoing, and officers are seeking information from the public, including dash-cam or doorbell camera footage, to locate the three suspects.
