Selma Blair apologizes after plane assault arrest
Actress Selma Blair issued a public apology on Instagram and reiterated that she is taking the assault charges from a recent flight incident seriously.
Actress Selma Blair posted a video on Instagram apologizing to those she said she "disappointed, hurt, frightened, and alarmed" after her arrest on assault charges stemming from an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York City. Blair acknowledged the silence since the October 11 incident and said she is "taking the legal matter very seriously."
"To the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed, I am so sorry," she said in the video.
Authorities reported that two flight attendants sustained injuries, with one requiring hospital treatment, and that Blair was later charged with two counts of second-degree assault for allegedly kicking a Port Authority police officer and a hospital nurse. She has pleaded not guilty.
Blair emphasized that harming others is not in her nature and thanked supporters for their love, noting the importance of her son and her service dog, Scout. She said she will focus on her health and family while awaiting further court proceedings.
Her attorney told the court that the alleged conduct resulted from a medical emergency linked to her multiple sclerosis and Parkinsonism, noting missed medication doses and a head injury during the flight. The case was adjourned until January 19.
