Police say three masked suspects entered a multi-million-dollar Toronto residence, shooting the MAC Group chief David Morton and his daughters and assaulting his wife with a hammer, leaving two victims with serious injuries.

Toronto police reported that three masked intruders broke into a luxury home on Bride Path early Thursday, demanding valuables and opening fire. Toronto Police Inspector Kristy Smith said the suspects entered through a locked back door, fled in an SUV and that a struggle resulted in multiple gunshots and a hammer attack.

The victims were David Morton, chief executive of the MAC Group, his two daughters and his wife Doriana Zohil-Morton. Morton and one daughter were shot in the leg, while the other daughter was hit under the arm, according to local reports. Smith said the wife was struck with a hammer during the altercation.

Mayor Olivia Chow expressed concern, stating she was "deeply troubled" by the incident and offered thoughts for the family’s recovery. She added that the violence is unacceptable and affirmed her support for the police investigation.
