Daniel Stewart posts silent tribute to late father Patrick Stewart on X

Patrick Stewart died at his Los Angeles home on Wednesday after a short battle with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia, his passing announced publicly on Friday. His son Daniel Stewart, 59, posted an old photograph from their 2001 stage production of "Johnson Over Jordan" to X, adding no text to the post. The image, taken at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in the United Kingdom, was the only public comment from Daniel regarding his father's death.

The relationship between Patrick Stewart and his children had been described as strained for years. In a 2023 interview with the Irish Independent, Stewart said he was "separated from my children now" and that his connection with them had become "very important" after years of limited contact. He previously acknowledged that his focus on acting had contributed to the estrangement, expressing regret over his parenting.

A statement from Stewart's longtime spokesperson, Kelly Bush Novak, announced the death on Instagram, noting that he passed away "in the loving care of his beloved wife Sunny" after the brief illness. Stewart is survived by his children and his wife, singer-songwriter Sunny Ozell.
