Packers defeat Panthers 27-19 as Jordan Love leads comeback

Résumé

Green Bay held off a late rally by Carolina, winning 27-19 after Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes and the defense recorded six sacks.

Green Bay secured a 27-19 victory over Carolina on Thursday night, despite a fourth-quarter surge by the Panthers. Quarterback Jordan Love completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Tucker Kraft, Matthew Golden and Josh Jacobs. Love said, "Late in the game, it wasn't good enough. We weren't able to finish the way we wanted. That's something we've got to improve on, clean up as an offense and be better there."

The Packers' defense forced three turnovers and sacked Carolina quarterback Bryce Young six times, limiting the Panthers to 19 points. Safety Javon Bullard called the unit "really special." After falling behind 27-10 in the third quarter, Carolina narrowed the gap to 27-19 with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Young to Jalen Coker, but a failed two-point conversion and a late sack by Dani Dennis-Sutton sealed the outcome.

Both teams dealt with injuries. Wide receiver Christian Watson returned after a chest injury and a broken rib, recording eight catches for 113 yards. Panthers cornerback Will Lee left with a hamstring injury, and the team listed several other cornerbacks on injured reserve.

The win improved Green Bay to 5-3, while Carolina dropped to 3-4. The Packers will travel to New England on Nov. 8, and the Panthers host Denver the same day.
