Apple launches touchscreen MacBook Pro while retaining non-touch models
Apple introduced a new MacBook Pro with a touchscreen and PROLED XDR display, keeping existing non-touchscreen versions on sale.
Apple unveiled a new MacBook Pro featuring a touchscreen, PROLED XDR display, thinner chassis, slimmer bezels, an updated audio system and Dynamic Island. The device uses the same M5 Pro and M5 Max processors as the current non-touchscreen models, though a redesigned thermal system may improve cooling. Apple will continue to sell the existing non-touchscreen MacBook Pro lines, offering consumers a lower-priced alternative with identical performance specifications.
"The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display is identical performance-wise to the non-touchscreen models, though its thermal redesign could help keep the display cooler," the article notes.
The touchscreen version is priced about $400 higher than the non-touch models, a premium that the author suggests is justified by the added features. The launch comes amid speculation about future chip generations and recent price increases across Apple’s product line.
