President Donald Trump sharply rejected a reporter’s loaded question about his health after the cancellation of campaign events in Kansas and Iowa, dismissing the insinuation and pointing out the journalist’s own poor appearance as MAGA Inc. prepares virtual rallies nationwide.
President Donald Trump sharply rebuked a reporter who tried to turn his recent cancellation of campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa into a question about his health. Trump called the inquiry “sick” and then, in classic no-nonsense fashion, shifted the spotlight to the reporter’s own appearance, saying, “Look at this guy. He's way out of shape... you look like hell. Put yourself in shape,” while making clear that he felt fine and was not heading to Kansas because he “doesn't feel like going there.”
The remarks came as Trump’s campaign organization, MAGA Inc., announced plans for a series of virtual rallies in at least 19 states, including the two where the in-person events were canceled. The midterm elections, scheduled for Nov. 3, will decide control of 470 House and Senate seats for the remainder of Trump’s term.
Trump has long shown a willingness to speak bluntly about the physical appearance of political figures and public personalities during campaign season, praising candidates who present themselves well and criticizing those he sees as looking weak or unprepared.
