Everton drops Jack Greenish for Carabao Cup tie after training breach

Everton manager David Moyes confirmed midfielder Jack Grealish was omitted from the Carabao Cup match against Newcastle due to a breach of club discipline, after the player missed a training session.

Everton manager David Moyes said the club decided to leave Jack Grealish out of Thursday's Carabao Cup fourth-round match against Newcastle after the midfielder failed to attend a training session in the build-up to the game. Grealish, on loan from Manchester City, had missed the previous weekend's league defeat at Arsenal because of illness but had started Everton's three prior Premier League fixtures.

"It's something I don't really want to speak too much about. It's a club decision, so I support the decision. The club are the people you should go to if you're looking for more information," Moyes told Sky Sports.

When asked whether Grealish would be available for the upcoming league match at Newcastle, Moyes declined to comment on team selection, adding that he would not disclose such details.

"The one thing about Everton and what they've got is they've got really good values behind it. All the players stand up to the values, accept the values Everton put out there, what we want from them on the pitch and off the pitch, and from that point of view, the players done a brilliant job tonight," he said, praising the squad's performance.

Everton secured a 3-1 victory, advancing to the quarter-finals, with goals from James Garner, Hayden Hackney and Thierno Barry, and a late consolation goal by Dan Burn. The Toffees will face Fleetwood Town in December. Defender Jarrad Branthwaite also remained unavailable, continuing concussion protocols.
