Rajinikanth's sequel Jailer 2 has crossed Rs 755.5 crore globally, including a record $7.41 million in North America, as it approaches the festive release window.

Rajinikanth's action sequel Jailer 2 has amassed a worldwide gross of Rs 755.5 crore (approximately $9.1 billion) after 14 days in theatres, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The film earned Rs 2.50 crore overseas on day 14, bringing its overseas total to Rs 260.50 crore, while domestic collections reached Rs 495 crore in India.

In North America, Jailer 2 became the highest-grossing Kollywood release, collecting $7.41 million in 13 days and posting a profit of about Rs 8.67 crore. The film surpassed its predecessor Jailer, which had earned $7.25 million in the region.

Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu projected a distributor share of over Rs 125 crore in Tamil Nadu, suggesting total state earnings could hit Rs 250 crore. The film’s net collection in India stood at Rs 425.12 crore after 15 days.

The upcoming weekend is critical as new releases, including Ramayana: Part 1, are set to compete for screens during the festive period. Analysts expect Jailer 2 to retain a sizable number of shows despite the competition.

"Jailer 2 will earn a distributor share of over Rs 125 crore in Tamil Nadu alone," producer Kalaipuli S Thanu said at a recent event.

Action director Chethan D’Souza noted that Rajinikanth contributed ideas to the film’s fight sequences, including a leg-on-face moment to heighten impact. Cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan explained that the sequel retained the visual style of the original while adjusting lighting and location choices to maintain audience familiarity.

The film’s strong performance places it close to the lifetime gross of Rajinikanth’s earlier hit 2.0, which earned Rs 519 crore in India. Jailer 2’s domestic net of Rs 423 crore also makes it the highest-grossing Tamil film in terms of net collections, overtaking 2.0’s record.

Social media reactions have been mixed, with some users criticizing the film’s content, while others praised its entertainment value.
