Harry Kane welcomed at Bayern Munich after Ballon d'Or win
England captain Harry Kane received a warm reception at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena following his Ballon d'Or award, with teammates and club legends praising his impact on the team.
England captain Harry Kane arrived at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena after being announced as the latest Ballon d'Or winner. Although he did not feature in the club's 6-1 cup victory over Magdeburg, he was greeted by teammates, staff and fans who applauded his achievement.
Kane joked about his children playing with the trophy and said he would feel odd if people started calling him "Sir". He also dismissed a suggestion that he might receive a "golden schnitzel" as a joke, noting he saw it more as a trophy than food.
The striker said he felt a "big emotional load" after the award, adding that recent events had made the past two days feel intense. He expressed some embarrassment at the warm welcome, saying, "> Even when I was walking out to warm up and they were all there clapping, I get quite embarrassed by it."
Bayern legend Lothar Matthäus praised the signing, calling it the club's best investment in decades and highlighting Kane's versatility. "He is not a typical number nine; he can drop deep, create chances and help in defence," Matthäus said. He added that the team's tactical system now allows Kane to operate more freely.
Former Bayern president Uli Hoeneß, who previously questioned the transfer fee, later admitted he would have paid €150 million for the player, underscoring the shift in perception.
Looking ahead, Bayern plan further tributes for Kane's first league start against Borussia Dortmund and expect a new contract announcement soon. The club aims to win the Champions League, while Kane continues to pursue international success with England.
