Apple launches touchscreen MacBook Pro models with OLED displays and higher entry prices

Resumen

Apple unveiled touchscreen versions of its 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro, featuring OLED screens and starting prices up to $2,900 higher than the prior generation.

Apple announced new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops equipped with touchscreen capability and OLED displays. The 14-inch model begins at $2,899, while the 16-inch starts at $3,399, representing an increase of $700 compared with the previous generation's base prices.

The devices retain traditional keyboards and trackpads, but allow users to scroll, zoom and interact directly with the screen. They are offered with M5 Pro or M5 Max processors; models with the M5 Max chip start at $4,499 for the 14-inch and $4,799 for the 16-inch, reflecting different base configurations.

Apple says the new laptops can provide up to 24 hours of battery life, matching the maximum runtime of earlier models, and they include the Dynamic Island feature, previously seen on iPhones, for notifications and system information.

A separate 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 processor is priced at $1,999 but does not include the touchscreen or OLED screen. Pre-orders for the touchscreen models begin on October 28, with shipments slated for November 6.
